Artsy Fartsy Foodies: Two Room Delight

We are pleased to announce two restaurants, The Living Room and The Sushi Room, will be joining us for Eat Your Art Out on February 26, 2013. This neighboring duo takes you from the wine vineyards of Italy to the retro atmosphere of Asia.

We start our cuisine journey at The Living Room. The Living Room is a relaxed, comfortable, welcoming wine lounge & café in Chandler. The food ranges from delicious appetizers such as red pepper hummus with warm pita bread to soups and sandwiches like the  Prime Rib French Dip sandwich. And let’s not forget the wide range of exquisite wines.  Tom Kaufman, owner of  The Living Room, is passionate about offering a wine selection that takes you around the world.

Buckle up as we travel next door to The Sushi Room.  Enter the doors to an oasis of beautifully crafted food and decor. The Sushi Room chefs are passionate about their 27 types of sushi rolls and non-sushi dishes, including a kid’s menu and vegetarian options. Inspired by their executive chef, Joseph Chun, a Valley local, who adds his Arizona touch to the special rolls and finds the freshest fish in the desert. The Sushi Room is sure to please those seeking a delightful experience.

Make sure to keep a look out for their new steakhouse and grill restaurant, ChoP Chandler, opening in mid-December.

For your next cuisine adventure, whether you are seeking to taste the sunset of Tuscany or the retro vibe of Japan, both of these “rooms” are sure to enchant your taste buds.

Come out Tuesday, February 26th, 2013  and join them  for lunch or dinner (or both)!

I Play My Drum For You

Did you know November is National Drum Month?

Drums have been significant to the history of time. According to All About Drums, “The first drumming in drums history was a series clapping of hands and hitting the chest and knees with open hands. Various rhythms were adapted using this method but was limited because of the volume one could create and because to create higher volume was painful. So the drum was developed to overcome this problem.”

The drum has since signified various proclamations such as celebrating a victorious battle to worship and dance. Now days it is far more common to see a drum used within a performing band.

Let’s imagine the drum…now add choreographed routines to heavy doses of drum riffs and cadences with the rousing sound of the great brass tradition. Sound like showstopping fun? Well my friends, that is exactly what DRUMLINE LIVE is.

This new attraction was created by the team behind the hit movie “Drumline” and brings the Historically Black College and University marching band tradition to the theatrical stage for the very first time. With riveting rhythms and bold beats, this versatile group of musicians and dancers bring explosive energy and athleticism to the marching band experience.

DRUMLINE LIVE is coming to Chandler Center for the Arts on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 7pm. Don’t delay, get your tickets today.

For those who love the drum or love the power of music and dance, this is the show for you!

Artsy Fartsy Foodies: SanTan Brewing Co.

As I sit here munching on my stale goldfish, I can’t help but get excited for Eat Your Art Out. Today I am pleased to announce SanTan Brewing Company will once again be joining us for this amazing event!

If you’ve never been to SanTan Brewing Company, I can tell you it is a CCA Staff favorite to go grab lunch or to stop by after a show at the Center.

SanTan Brewing Company opened their doors in 2007 with their passion for craft beer and craft food being their biggest motivator. “Creating an experience that others will remember is primary in my daily work,” stated Anthony Canecchia, owner and head brewmaster. He continued, “We love to see our customers happy when they’re enjoying a cold pint or can of beer that I’ve hand crafted just for them.”

SanTan Brewing Company has made a name for itself as Arizona’s favorite craft beer destination, operating with a commitment to advance the culture of craft beer. In addition to great beer, SanTan has gained a loyal following of craft beer enthusiasts in Arizona by pairing their award winning craft beer with craft food.

SanTan Brewing Company is also all about supporting local business, especially in Chandler. Canecchia said, “This is our home, we love the arts, craft beer and craft food. It’s an honor to support the Eat Your Art Our Chandler program.”

Great Food, Great Beer and a Great Atmosphere!  What more could you ask for?

Monday Mashup: Fashion Show Recap

We made it to Monday! Many of us are sitting at our desks pondering our wonderful weekend activities. Some of us are even recovering from all the excitement. Here at Chandler Center for the Arts we had a fun-filled weekend that left lasting smiles on our faces.

This past Saturday the American Girl Fashion Show came to town. The foyer was filled with excitement as the little girls and their dolls buzzed around. The dolls were pampered before the show, photos were taken and by the end kiddos were skipping out of the center.  It was certainly a splendid day for all.
